Baby Monitors

A baby monitor is essential if you are to feel at ease when you're not in the same room as your baby.

At night, a baby monitor makes it easier to sleep in another room while still being able to hear or see when your baby wakes up. During the day a baby monitor can give you the freedom of doing other things around the house whilst your baby is sleeping, or lying contently in their cot.

There are many types and styles of baby monitors available and the type of baby monitor you choose depends on numerous factors :

  1. The location of your baby's room in relation to where you will generally spend most of your time. Depending on how far away you are going to be from the baby's room and how portable you require your baby monitor to be.
  2. The type of building you live in. If you live in a property with thick internal walls (generally found in older buildings), you will need to make sure that whichever style of baby monitor you purchase, it has a stong transmitter.
  3. How much you want to spend. As with everything you purchase, the more you spend the more 'gizmos' your baby monitor will generally have. In todays day and age it is possible to spend many hundreds of pounds on a complete baby monitoring system.

Types of Baby Monitors

Baby monitors generally fall into three types, there are Audio monitors, Audio and Visual monitors and Movement monitors.

Brands of Baby Monitors

Many of the best selling baby monitors are made by some of the major well known consumer electronic brands, such as Philips and BT

Whichever baby monitor you choose, remember to never solely rely on a monitor for your baby's safety, the baby monitor is your aid and not your replacement. Never leave your baby unattended for extended periods of time. Take a look in the room every now and then, no matter how content your baby may appear. Always keep the batteries charged and keep all of the cords, adapters and transmitters out of your baby's reach.
